Britain's Northernmost Island...
Unst is the most northerly island in the United Kingdom and due to it's unique location, it offers a vast spectrum of wildlife and scenery. The island also boasts spectacular beaches, towering cliffs, unparalleled geological features and a distinctive rural charm. Unst has 2 National Nature Reserves, those being Hermaness and the Keen Of Hamar, which contain a multitude of sea-birds, marine animals, flora and fauna.

Steeped in History and Tradition...
The history and tradition of the island is still evident, and visitors can delve into Unst's past at the Unst Heritage Centre and the Unst Boat Haven (both situated in Haroldswick).

The Unst Heritage Centre contains a fine collection of items from Unst residents (including some from The Creek), which depict Unst, it's history and it's people. This includes Unst's links to crofting, fishing, quarrying and also shows the craftmanship and skill of the local people.

Unst Heritage Centre

The Unst Boat Haven is part of the Unst Heritage Trust, and displays the maritime history of Shetland boats. A vast number of boats are on display along with tools, fishing gear, documents and charts. All the boats are traditonally built and are designed for both oar and sail.

Unparalleled Sports and Leisure Facilities...
Considering the size of the island, Unst also has a vast array of leisure facilities on offer. The majority of which are provided by the Unst Leisure Centre. Located in Baltasound, the Unst Leisure Centre has a swimming pool and provides facilities for badminton, basketball, birthday parties, tennis, carpet bowls, fitness suite, hockey, community room, netball, aerobics/aquarobics, rolller skating, short tennis, solarium, squash, table tennis and volleyball. There is also a full size outdoor football (and training) pitch.

A Treasured Island...
This makes Unst the ideal base for bird watchers, keen anglers, walkers and hikers, those interested in geology/archeology or those who just want to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty on offer.
